Wild Walking
September 2026
Tony, Vic and Pat are all keen walkers. We have started a 'Wild Walk' group and have already done our first walk. We plan to take walks of aprox 3-7 miles on rural footpaths and quiet country lanes and in the Wolds involving some hills which we take steadily. You will need to have a resonable standard of fitness to take part on these walks and wear suitable clothing and footwear as some of the walks can be quite muddy. We are arranging the walks using WhatsApp so we can all keep in contact and organise lifts and make sugestions. We already have 15 interested walkers. We are arranging the walks, about 2 per month, on different days (mainly Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends) so as to make them accessible to more members. The walks will be announced about 2 weeks in advance and we ask group member to fill in a poll to give us an idea of numbers.
We hope that there are other walkers who would like to join us. If you are interested in this group please click on the contact at the top of the page and provide your name email and mobile number then you will have access to all information. (no commitment). Thanks and hope to walk with you soon.
Next walk, weather permitting, will be on Friday Oct 23rd

Our first walk took 8 of us on a circular walk from Morrisons to Laceby. It was a lovely day, a littly chilly but sunny and we were toasty warm through walking. It was extremely windy which was bothersome only in that converation was difficult in unsheltered places especially for those of us wearing hearing aids. We walked alongside River Freshney, passed some blowwells, and walked along footpaths that ran beside ploughed fields then across grassland and through copses to Laceby. The tearoom was full so we went to the Naggs Head which has been updated and had hot chocolate and weird beers. After a rest we crossed the dual carriageway and walked through a horsefield and alongside dykes and hedges to the edge of Bradley woods. Then we took a gravelled path back to Cottegers Plot and Morrisons.
